On the road by 8.30am headed out of Victoria, via the Island Hwy. Photo stop at Malahat, where we could see some of the Gulf Islands and an inter-island ferry. Stopped at Chemainus where to save the community after the mill closed they created a town of murals. Sounds corny but most of them were well done. it has become a bit of an arty town and the mill has reoped so happy days!
On to Nanaimo to catch the vehicular ferry (people, bikes, cars, trucks, buses, timber lorries et al) across the Strait of Georgia to Horseshoe Bay, West Vancouver. Because of the long weekend the timetable was different so we had to wait 90 minutes. When we arrived we were first in line, by the time we were driving on board the cars and trucks were queued up back as far as you could see.
Uninspiring lunch on ferry. Bob's hot chips rating 2 out of 10 - bit bored by then!
Off the ferry then it was off up the Sea-to-Sky Hwy (great name) north to Whistler. scenery spoilt a bit by overcast conditions. Could see snow on some peaks, others shrouded in cloud. Photo stop at spectacular Shannon Falls.
Arrived at hotel about 5pm. Dinner in the hotel restaurant best meal on tour so far. Crab cakes, salmon(of course), chicken and steaks - all great.
