At the end of the day some of us (Val) were still looking! A bear!!! A youngish cub at the side of the road, just ambling along. The bus slowed down, stopped, everyone rushed to that side of the bus for photographs just as it ambled off the side of the road and into the trees. I was too slow. (The group yesterday who did the afternoon snow cat run saw a mother and two cubs, relatively close up .... lucky buggers).
We saw several deer and squirrels hopping around the hotel and in the forests.
We wound our way over the mountains and along beside fast running rivers and icy lakes. We saw lots of avalanche sites, huge trees and some clear fell sites. There is still snow on the tops and down the sides of the mtns but the towns are clear. We had coffee and lunch stops in little towns you didn't want to get left behind in - everyone was back on the coach in good time! The people in the shops we visited were very welcoming and appreciated our business. Food was cheap - I got soup and a ham, cheese, lettuce breadroll for $5. Most of the stops were in First Nation territory.
Arrived at Sun Peaks about 5pm, in time for a walk around the town before dinner. Much smaller, neater town than Whistler with an Austrian look.
Natural log jam on Lake Duffy. The pile of sticks on the far shore was a beaver's lodge.
Beautiful Seton Lake, fed from a melting glacier and snow, hence the colour.
