Day 1, arrive Vancouver at 7.30am and start Saturday all over again. Quick change of planes at the airport and we're off to Victoria in a much smaller plane. The journey takes about 25 minutes, only 15 of which is actual air-borne flying! Check into the hotel, and then a quick walk back through town for lunch. Val, who managed to sleep and doze on the flight, is full of beans and off to do some more walking. Anne, Bob and Greg ...... back to the hotel.
It was a warm sunny day, the first day of the Queen Victoria Birthday long weekend. Market stalls lined the harbour. There was a band playing outside the Parliament House; free outdoor concert in the evening- the place was buzzing. At night the view of the lights from our hotel window was magical. We could also see float planes coming in to land and the water taxis zipping all around the harbour. Sometimes there would be 2 or 3 of the little boats at the hotel wharf. $5 to anywhere on the harbour. (Canada $ is very close to Australia $.)
