Day 8 Sat 24 May Jasper to Lake Louise

Away from Jasper today to head for Lake Louise via Athabasco Falls, Athabasco Glacier and Waterfowl Lake, along the Icelands Hwy, a totally touist dedicated road on which commercial vehicles (trucks, lorries, etc) are definitely not welcome. This allows touring vehicles (cars, campers, buses) to crawl along wildlife spotting, and/or stop suddenly if wildlife are spotted. Drivers travelling this route are expected to accept that this will happen.

Like spotting a bear, casually feeding and minding his own business. His black coat was absolutely beautiful, thick and shiny.

Athabasco Falls

Snowcat to the glacier

Athabasco Glacier - the fearless four, next stop the North Pole.

Breathtaking!!!!!! Just arrived at Lake Louise and this is the view from our room at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise.

Frozen over Lake Louise

When you arrive a little earlier than expected, and your room's not ready, and they offer you a free drink of your choice .... what else is there to do

Through the large windows in the background was the expanse of frozen Lake Louise. Looking out the window, it was like waiting for Bing Crosby and Rosemary Clooney to appear, sining "White Christmas".
